Common Questions
Can you fly near an airport?
Usually, yes. Near airports I request FAA authorization first, and some spots close to the runways need approval further in advance. Drone Flights on Long Island covers the details.
What time of day looks best?
Golden hour, shortly before sunset, gives warm light and long shadows. For a twilight aerial, I plan to be in the air right at sunset.
How often should construction progress be flown?
Monthly works for most projects. I fly the same route at the same time on every visit so the shadows and angles line up from month to month.
